Top Ten 2015 Releases I Meant to Get to But Didn’t

1. Trigger Warning: Short Fictions and Disturbances by Neil Gaiman
   As you come to know the enigmatic blogger behind Bookenstein, you’re sure to find out that I am absolutely IN LOVE with Neil Gaiman. It is my goal to own and read everything he puts out, so I nearly died when I got the news of the release of a short story collection by my fave. Of course, I’m a procrastinator to the extreme, so I haven’t quite gotten around to it (even though it’s been on my library wishlist since its arrival).

2. Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon
   I came across this one on Tumblr and was interested in the diversity aspect of it all. Hopefully, I’ll get around to actually reading it this year (this is another one that’s just been waiting on me at the library too many times to count. Whoops).

3. Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes
   I love Shonda Rhimes and everything she has brought to prime time TV. When my grandma first mentioned this one to me, I can admit that I was half-uninterested because I deal in fiction at all times. But I realized… I actually care about what this woman has to say. So, I’m super stoked to eventually read this one.

4. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
   Another Tumblr recommendation that sounded super interesting. It’s a first book for Sabaa Tahir, but I’ve heard nothing but good things. Maybe this year?

5. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
   This is the one book I have been hearing everyone rave about, and I wanted in on the action. Unfortunately… I never actually got around to buying this for myself any of the couple of times I came across it (even though the cover is the most beautiful cover I’ve seen in a while). One day… maybe… When will it be out in paperback again?

6. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
   No one should be surprised here. It feels like everyone swears by Sarah J. Maas, and I really want to know what the hype is all about. Hopefully I’m not disappointed when the time comes.

7. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
   I hear this book is a bit different in its presentation, and that got me so intrigued. Also, the cover isn’t half so bad (I judge books by their covers. Sue me). 

8. My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga
   I honestly have no clue why I know this book exists. I just know that it does. It deals with the topic of suicide (so it should probably come with a trigger warning) which is why I think I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I have to be in a particular mood to put myself through something like that.

9. Slasher Girls & Monster Boys stories selected by April Genevieve Tucholke
   Oh, come on. A horror/thriller anthology? I’m down like Charlie Brown. Only… apparently I wasn’t as down as I claimed because I still haven’t seen or touched this book.

10. Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling
    The hype, man. Not to mention, my carpool buddy sings Mindy’s praises. I just want to know if the girl writes as funny as everyone claims she is, okay?
