A Week in the Life
Last week was absolutely terrible. Not only did we lose two legends in a span of four days (both at age 69 from cancer… FUCK CANCER), but I was also in a pretty bad car accident Monday resulting in me really not having a car for a bit. I’m pretty sure they’ll be totaling out this car since they totaled out my first one for much less.
So, if anyone would like to keep a running count, this will be a record-breaking THREE cars lost for me in a span of a year. (I actually think this latest accident happened on the anniversary of my first one last year, so there’s that.)
In less depressing news, I finally went to my local library for the first time in actual YEARS… I usually borrow all my library books on my Kindle or buy books because, as previously stated, I’m a reckless hoe with no self-control. Of course, this resulted in me having to get a brand new library card (mine was outdated) and losing my online library presence because my library can’t be proactive about anything.
I went nuts and got all of my faves… and I have a feeling this will be a continued thing (in an attempt to keep myself from buying all of the things like I did last year).
Last and definitely not least, I also happened to buy tickets to see Disney on Ice’s 100 Years of Magic with my brother! Stay tuned for the happy ramblings about that next month.

Ah, how do you like Outlander so far? I’m kind of on the fence with reading it. There’s been a number of mixed reviews on the series and the books are huge. I do like historical fiction but I’ve heard that it’s romance where the main female lead has an affair in a different time period? Anyway, I’d love to hear your thoughts! :)

This is actually my first piece of historical fiction (that’s not specifically romance), and so far I’m loving it! Of course, I haven’t gotten that far quite yet, so that could easily change within the next 700 pages. The writing is enough to have me hooked for now. I’m actually curious as to how this whole love affair is worked into the story since that’s the only thing my friends have talked about concerning it.

I am sorry to hear about your car accident. How awful! I hope you weren’t hurt! Three cars in one year is a lot. I know it’s not a laughing matter, but I couldn’t help but think of Stephanie Plum from Janet Evanovich’s novels who had bad luck with cars too (hers most often blew up though). At least in the books I’ve read in the series.
I hope you enjoy Disney on Ice! I would love to take my daughter to see something like that. I hope you enjoy your library books! I seem to only use mine for books for my daughter. :-(

Thanks. I was totally fine which is great after I actually assessed the damage. And no worries… I laughed severely at the scene because that’s all you can do at this point. I don’t think I’ve ever read that Janet Evanovich book. I’ll have to check it out since I do love her writing (thanks for the unintentional book rec!)
I highly recommend the shows if they come to your area. I remember them being absolutely magical when I went as a child. Then… I rekindled my love for them a couple of years ago and, surprisingly, the magic is still there! Checking out the 100 Years of Magic show was a no-brainer for me since it’ll be the first time I get to see Woody, and I’m OBSESSED with Toy Story.

I’m actually pretty surprised we had such good stuff. The last time I was a hardcore library-goer, I always had to request the books I wanted be shipped to our library. They’ve definitely gotten better in that respect, and it looks like they expanded their Teen/YA section A LOT. It’s perf!

That sucks about your car! Were you okay though? :-( Fingers crossed this week is a lot better. I adored Outlander, so I really hope you do too! You do have to fight through it to get to the good bits, but it’s worth it in my opinion

I really hope I love it, considering how long it is. My coworker has been wanting me to read this for a while now, so I finally decided to give into her while I wait on the next ASOIAF audiobook. Did you read the physical copy or check out the audio? I have both and have yet to decide which to commit to.

I read the physical copy, but only because I don’t listen to audio books. I think the audio might be better though, because the book is so stupidly massive

Ah. Yeah, for big books like that I usually have to listen to the audio while working… otherwise, my motivation would fizzle out a third of the way in and I’d never finish it.
